Lock Poker Revealed As Safest Alternative to Full Tilt Poker
After testing virtually every poker room in cyberspace during a 72 hour period this week, the website MyPokerBasics has decided that Lock Poker takes their top honors.

April 21, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- As hundreds of thousands of players are scrambling through cyberspace trying to find a legitimate online poker solution after the government shut down last Friday, one website has stepped forward amidst the chaos and dared to say online gambling is still alive and well inside the United States. MyPokerBasics, a leading provider of strategy advice and online gambling information for US players, tested and ranked all 114 known websites that claims to offer online poker for money within the United States.

"Don't try this at home folks, because most of the websites out there offering online poker for US residents do not comply with the laws in the United States," said Kevin Smith, a project director at MyPokerBasics. "Out of the hundred and something poker rooms that our staff has reviewed this week, there were only a handful of them that was in compliance with the US and had fair gambling practices in place. With PokerStars and Full Tilt suddenly out of the picture, there would really only be two or three poker rooms that we would be comfortable recommending."

Smith went on to say that US compliance is only a tiny part of the entire picture that players should look at when they are seeking an online poker room to play at. There are also factors like online security, licensing, software testing, and belonging to a reputable gaming commission to think about. Just because a poker website is set up to process payments does not make it legitimate, a fact that several gamblers end up learning the hard way.

"Just the other day," Smith said, "we received an email from a player in Texas that said he won $108,000 in an online poker tournament. The guy explained that the company wasn't answering his emails and he wanted us to see if we could help him get his winnings for him...it turned out that the poker website was completely bogus. The poor guy had deposited over $300 of his own money too...it turns out that he was playing against robots and other scam victims."

It turns out that those types of stories are not unique within this industry either. Various types of fraud over the Internet are considered the fastest growing type of crime in the world today, a statistic that experts expect to continue escalating far into the future. Many players may remember the poker scandal at Ultimate Bet a few years ago as well where a former staff member hacked into UB's mainframe servers in order to see opposing player's hole cards. Although an exact amount was never released, it was estimated that the criminal may have stolen well over twenty-five million dollars from unsuspecting players.

"In our opinion," Smith added, "the safest place to play poker right now is a website named Lock Poker. They are fully regulated, their servers are secure, and they also comply with the UIGEA so US players will not have any problems."

Lock Poker is currently licensed by the Kahnawake Gaming Commission out of Quebec, Canada and their website offers various forms of poker play at stakes tables and tournament games. A current promotion at this website features a 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event seat to one lucky winner, plus there are numerous jackpots and prizes available for Lock Poker members. Unfortunately, the management of this website was unavailable for comment.
