Asian Poker Tour Returns to the Philippines this August
The seven-day poker event will be held from August 23 to 29 at the Resorts World Manila.
LONDON, ENGLAND, July 07, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Poker players from all over the world should mark the last week of August on their calendars as the Asian Poker Tour (APT) returns to Manila with its APT Philippines 2010 event.
The seven-day poker event will be held from August 23 to 29 at the Resorts World Manila complex in Manila, Philippines. Buy-in for the main event is set at approximately US $2,500 + US $200.
Aside from the main event, there will be eight exciting side events at APT Philippines 2010, including a high-rollers tournament, a Pot-Limit Omaha tournament, and the Asian Poker Tour's very own Greed tournament.
Last year's APT Philippines main event won by Filipino poker pro Neil Arce, who took home US $185,000 for finishing first. The win gave poker a big boost in the country as it was the first time a local player had won an international poker tournament held in the Philippines.
Arce will be returning to defend his title at this year's main event. He will have a tough field to beat, though, as many top pros from Asia and other parts of the world are expected to be in Manila to try and become the next APT champion.
Top online poker rooms and networks such as PKR, the iPoker Network, and PartyPoker are already holding qualifiers to the APT Philippines 2010 main event.
In addition, land-based satellites are being held at Resorts World Manila and at select locations throughout the world.
One of the most noticeable changes from 2009 is that this year's APT Philippines will be held at the recently-opened Resorts World Manila. Located across from Terminal 3 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), Resorts World Manila features a world-class dining experience, a sprawling casino, and plenty of special events for the whole family.
Accommodations will also be an experience all on their own as the Resorts World Manila complex features the Maxims Hotel, the only six-star hotel in the Philippines, as well as the five-star Manila Marriott Hotel.
